Born Dec 13, 1922 at Nokokmis, Sask. but more like the back 40, as therewere no hospital's so was born out on the farm. In 1925 the family movedto Venn, Sk., about 20 miles away.
Went to Gleneseo School and completed Grade 8. did farm housework forsome of the neighbors and must say for a very low wage.
In 1942 the family moved back to Nokomis and so did I. Worked ashousework during the summer and saved my money and came to Vancouver inNovember 1942 with brother Bill and Ellan.
Registered ast the Unemployment Office and did housework by the day untilI was asked to do factory work by one of my employers this was VancouverBedding and they made mattresses which was later combined with Hammond Furniture. This was during the war so
they needed help as some of themen went to war.
I learned the sewing trade and really enjoyed it. Plus cutting ofmattress materials etc.
In 1947 was transferred to Calgary, Ab. by the same company but about1949 moved back to Vancouver and worked for Coast Bedding. Also went tonight school and took advanced dressmasking and tailoring until 1958 when I married Michael. Was fulltime
housewife and mother for a few years butwent to work for Janzen Swim suits part time. Also took in sewing andalterations at home for awhile but gave that up as I find lots of my ownthings to do as hobbies such as knitting, crotcheting and sewing and two
grand daughters to keep me busy.
