WORLDCONNECT TIP:
COPYING CHARTS AND REPORTS
If you are like many of us, there are numerous occasions when you
would like to share a portion of your genealogy file with an e-mail
acquaintance, new-found cousin, the members of a mailing list, or in a
query or query response on a GenConnect board. However, the hassle of
opening your genealogy program, locating the file you wish to copy,
and selecting and formatting the report you want to send just doesn't
seem worth the effort.
If you have a GEDCOM on file with WorldConnect you can accomplish this
feat without any of the work. Simply go to your file on WorldConnect
and locate the individual upon whom you wish to base the chart or
report. Click on the appropriate link in the row of links at the
bottom of the page to view the type of chart you wish to copy. Copy
the chart, or any portion of it, to the Windows clipboard. Paste the
chart into an e-mail, or onto a message board.
In many genealogy programs, Register Reports are produced as Rich Text
Format (RTF) files. It is not always easy to copy these reports into
an e-mail. WorldConnect Register Reports can easily be pasted into an
e-mail, or onto a board, because they are in plain text format.
