I have Luise's birthdate from an immigration record made by her son I have Luise's birthdate from an immigration record made by her sonChristian when he emigrated to Germany in 1922. The birth date for Luiseis November 3, 1834 and husband Christian as February 27, 1832. The Trauschein (Marriage Certificate) of December 29, 1847 does not give theages of the parties. Since this would make the couples ages Luise 13 years and Christian 15years at the time of marriage, the ages provided by their son Christianis in doubt. They were married in the Evangelical Lutheral Church and I doubt that the church would sanction the marriage at that age. If thechurch requirement was 18 years of age for marriage, she would have to beborn in 1829 or earlier. The same applies for Christian, her husband. He had a family of seven sons and twodaughters. He served as a lay pastor in the Neudorf Church and with his son David, hid the church records within the church when it was closedby the Communists. He had four sons in America, As an educated person hecouldn't get a permission to emigrate so he chose to flee across thePolish border. He was arrested and died in a Polish Prison in about 1921.
The following was received from Don Miller, of Hillsboro, Washington andis a letter received by the Editors of "Der Hausfreund" from PeterIttermann. It was translated into english by Dr. Willi Wiesner, a friendBelieved to be published in about 1910.
FROM NEUDORF. Dear Hausfreund! Through an unknown person, I was sentthe "Posaune" of the Abendlichter for six months. I read many beautifulthings in it but also found a complaint against you, Hausfreund, that you tell so little of experiences with God and of God's healing. Then Ithought: no, it is not the Hausfreund's fault but, rather, the fault ofthe readers of the Hausfreund, for they tell him so little of thesethings. Therefore, I would like to share something with the dear Hausfreund about what God has done for me and how he has heard my prayer, even though it might not be in the same vein as the "Posaune" wouldpresent it. My dear wife was recently deathly ill. The first physician I broughtsaid that I should get her to the Red Cross as soon as possible and letthem operate on her, for she had an unlcer in her body. Then I drove her to Shitomir to a physician and he said that an operation wasimpossible because it was on the left side, close to the heart, and thatit was cancer. So I went to 5 physicians and each one diagnosed a different illness but was unable to provider help. We had to wait twelvedays in order to get a precise diagnosis. after the time had passed, the determination was: no helpwas possible. Then I asked the physicians what I should do because thepain was so severe. I was given a prescription of 0.42 morphine for her to drink and 25.0 Chloroform to be brushed in the affected area so thatahe would not feel any pain. So that is what I did. I drove home andapplied the prescription and home remedies. After 10 days I returned tothe physician in the hospital and there I received the final verdict: nohelp! As the pain was getting ever more severe, I turned to God in prayer andpleaded for help. The midwife had my wife lie on straw on the floor soothat she would die more quickly. I ran into the field and cried to God, promising Him I would accept Him and submit myself to Him with all myheart and I asked Him to have mercy on myself and my five children. Iwas a schoolmaster and, as I prayed like this, I preceived a voice in myheart that said loudly: I should bring her into a sweat and she would live. And so I did this. Later, after the physician sat by her bed, heasked to be driven away and he said to the driver: Bid farewell to theLehrerin for in two days she will be dead. Then he came and told me the same. I ran to the chapel and cried to God that he should have mercy onme and my children. Then came a voice that told me to give her 2 spoonsof castor-oil and then she would become well, and so it happened. And, as I again peladed with God to have mercy on me and on her and tosave her, a voice came into my heart as before: I should go home andgive her no medicine, rather, only sweet milk to drink. Praise be to God! Even when doubts sometimes plague me, I no longer needed to useanaesthetics and my wife became better every day, so that now she thanksGod with me that she was made well without an operation.
