Hermann died 8 Feb 1925, Monroe, Wisconsin 53566, lives 1876, Schönow, Kr. Pyritz (Pom.).4) Son of Friedrich Ludwig Schmerse of Kernein.
They first lived near Browntown, Wisconsin. In 1883 they bought a farm in Washington Township. It was 122 acres and cost them $22 an acre. In 1888 he built a barn of logs. The roof was made of straw. Each year, when they threshed grain, they put a new straw roof on it. Soon after the turn of the century, Herman and Louise retired and moved to Monroe, Wisconsin to a house in the west part of the town. They later lived in a very nice red brick house at 2202, 12th Street. They are both buried in Greenwood Cemetary in Monroe.
